Joan Rivers, the comedian and actress that many all over the world loved and adored for her outspoken and “take no shit” attitude died at the age of 81 on September 4, 2014 in Manhattan, New York City, NY during a routine endoscopy procedure.
That’s right…. a routine procedure. So, what happened?
Exactly what Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, wanted to know.
She alleged that the doctors that were negligent and botched the procedure and ultimately that they were at fault, and were the cause of her death.
Little did she know how right she was…
When she filed a suit against them for malpractice, the investigators found out more than they had expected.
The lawsuit alleged that doctors at the clinic mishandled Rivers’ procedure by performing a laryngoscopy on her vocal cords without consent, instead of an endoscopy. According to the AP, the suit claimed that when an anesthesiologist expressed concern over what the procedure would do to her ability to breathe, she was told that she was being “paranoid.”
Not only did the doctor perform an unauthorized biopsy, the doctor that performed it was not even licensed at the clinic, and was not to be performing any surgeries. She also has the audacity to TAKE A SELFIE while Joan was unconscious!!

While doing an unauthorized, and negligent, procedure, the doctor and staff went so far as to even took selfies with Joan, before they realized their fatal mistake. Completely disgusting. Her daughter Melissa was appalled at this news.
“Moving forward, my focus will be to ensure that no one ever has to go through what my mother, Cooper and I went through,” the ‘Fashion Police’ executive producer and co-host said in a statement. – Source
After the ruling, the guilty Doctor apparently had completely gone off the map and was nowhere to be found.
